I just wanted to reassure people who didn't have a 12+ hour head start on dessert that they could enjoy it right away. :) I'm so glad that you liked it, and thanks for the feedback!

Side note on this recipe – I was surprised that you called to serve right away, as conventional wisdom with trifles is to refrigerate 12-24 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld. But I decided to go ahead and serve within an hour or two. I knew it would be good – the pound cake was delightful, the custard luscious. However, when I served it, the group liked it, but I thought “meh.” And I put it away, a little disappointed that it didn’t live up to my expectations. Then the next day I tried the leftovers.

Holy. Monkey.

If you are in a rush, you can absolutely make a good trifle. But if you want a GREAT trifle? Let that baby sit. This dessert will thank you for it. Which, quite frankly, is often way easier on schedules. Very much looking forward to this delight sitting in my fridge, waiting for tomorrow’s event!

Congrats on the move! The worst is over (actually physically moving things is difficult and dangerous if you’re a klutz like me), and you’ll be free of your box fort soon enough. And these trifles are seriously beautiful, like restaurant pastry chef-style gorgeous!!!

Moving and packing is definitely a pain in the ass, but it’s finally over. And it was a good workout, yeah? That’s what I keep telling myself.

Trifles look great! I’ve never made up, but it looks very easy. The chocolate curls are a nice touch too.

Elizabeth, you are totally right about trifles being a secret weapon dessert! People always seem to be super impressed, and trifles are generally pretty easy to whip up. This toasted coconut chocolate trifle looks awesome! I’m totally down with the chocolate and coconut layers. Mouthwatering!
