Hi Linda! In this case, frozen strawberries don’t make a good substitution for freeze dried strawberries because they add too much liquid to the frosting. The beauty of freeze dried strawberries is that they turn into a powder that packs a ton of flavor. So, if you don’t have the freeze dried berries, we’d actually recommend adding a layer of strawberry jam in addition to a layer of plain frosting (vanilla flavored). Jam is easy to find, works great in trifles and will add great flavor without changing the texture. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi Lisa. So sorry to hear this happened to you. We’ve never had that happen before. It makes me wonder if the bag they sent you wasn’t sealed properly. Might be worth contacting the company for a refund. Anyway, I’m impressed at your problem solving skills in the kitchen. So glad the jello gave you enough flavor, and I hope everyone loved your cakes!

The dehydrated strawberries that I bought (from the link provided in the recipe) were too soft to get to powder. I put them in my food processor and they just gummed up. I tried drying them in the oven and then they turned dark and gross looking. I ended up using strawberry powder jello and that worked perfectly.

Hi Colleen! I hope you were able to figure this out already but just in case . . . Four ounces of butter is the same as a 1/2 cup or 8 tablespoons of butter. I hope they turned out amazing for you!

I am making these for a dinner tomorrow and it’ll be perfect with Valentine’s Day so close. However, I noticed on the recipe for the frosting that it says 4 ounces of butter. However, my sticks of butter only go by tablespoons. So I am going to have to figure out how to convert it. I’m afraid I’m gonna make a mistake. So if anybody can help with this, that would be great and I will come back on and re rate the recipe after I make it.
